Wilderness Retreat & Development Center 2009-2010 Annual Appeal-Update
ARE YOU READY FOR THE CHALLENGE?
We have received a Challenge Grant by the Missouri United Methodist Foundation for our Stair-Lift in Rainbow Lodge. What this means is that the Foundation will award us a grant of $4,200 after we have secured the balance of the project, which is $3,000. We have raised $700, and need your help in raising the remaining $2,300 for the Challenge Grant.
Within the last few months, groups have commented that a lift would greatly enhance their stay here at WRDC. "Putting a lift in Rainbow Lodge would be a great asset for the older adults in congregations and other groups that can't make the steps." Pat Hart, Avondale UMC. Other groups including William Jewell College and Journey Covenant Church in Liberty indicated, .One of our students was in a wheelchair, a lift in Rainbow would have been really helpful in accommodating her stay here., Robert Mance, William Jewell College. Tina Smith, from Journey Covenant Church shared, "We had two older couples that stayed at a local hotel, because it would have been hard for them to maneuver the stairs at night." In addition to guests using the lift, this past summer, WRDC had two staff with disabilities who would have greatly benefited from having a lift available.
By adding a lift in Rainbow Lodge, it is the hope that older adults and individuals with mobility issues will be able to participate in group activities, including worship, fellowship, and meal preparation, thus enhancing their spiritual connection at WRDC.
Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution for the Challenge Grant, or another project, in the amount of $5, $10, $15, or more. Every dollar moves us closer to our goal. Other projects include:
- Tree House Village ($10,000)
- Program Vehicle ($25,000)
- NEW Dining Hall ($1,500,000)
- Endowment Fund
Help support our growing ministry, and know that your contribution is helping
to make Wilderness available for all to come, and feel God's love and acceptance.
Thank you!
